Spotlight on Zara

In this time of credit crisis and budget conscious shopping, there is no need to forget style and fashion.  International fashion company, Zara, are committed to providing high quality, high fashion at affordable high street prices for the discerning modern customer.

Their range includes a full catalogue of womens, mens and kids clothing as well as fragrances and homeware (from Zara Home).  They have stores located in 71 countries with 48 in the UK alone.  Their production is different from their competitors in that they manufacture over half of their clothing in Spain, the rest mostly in Europe and only a fraction in Asia.  They take care of their own distribution thus dealing directly with the supply chain and keeping costs down and turnover of stock fast.

Zara stores change their whole range on a monthly basis making them a hot spot for fashion aficionados and those looking for the latest trends on the high street.  Making a hit in stores this month are “X-Line” or sheath shirts for summer, mix and match animal prints, co-ordinated pastels for the guys and fun colours and flowers for the little shoppers.

T-Shirt Justice at Paris Fashion Week

March 12, 2009 by rachelorange23 · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Urban wear

The Environmental Justice Foundation launched their latest must-have charity item last year and at the conclusion of this years Paris Fashion week, models from across the globe came together to promote it. Karlie Kloss, Ekat Kiseleva and Aline Weber lined up with Laura Bailey, Ashley Jensen and Jasmine Guiness.

Designers include Katharine Hamnett, Betty Jackson, Christian Lacroix and John Rocha and all proceeds will go towards helping exploited workers and to help lessen the impact of cotton production on the global environment.

Last year, top male model David Gandy and fashion designer Katharine Hamnett combined their talents and fame to back the Environmental Justice Foundation’s (EJF) “Save the Sea: Defending Oceans” campaign against ‘Pirate Fishing’, whose campaign supporters also include Johnny Depp.

Katharine Hamnett designed a SAVE THE SEA slogan t-shirt made with organic cotton to highlight the consequences of pirate fishing and what needs to be done to stop it.

The EJF is a UK-based charity with strong links to the fashion world.  It works on an international level to empower victims of environmental abuse and supporting local projects as well as raising awareness globally of the issues their grassroots partners are working to solve locally.

We are delighted to be able to support this campaign in its very worthwhile fight against some of the terrible injustices that occur around the world. Exploitation of some of the most vulnerable groups in society, especially children, should not be allowed to happen in today’s modern world.”
Betty Jackson CBE, Fashion Designer,

Exclusive T-shirts are produced on organic and fairly traded cotton and printed with organic certified inks. Mens and womens and childrens styles are available from £18, from the charity’s website at www.ejfoundation.org/shop.  All proceeds go to Environmental Justice Foundation’s work protecting the environment and defending human rights.

Cheap Flights, Low Cost Air Travel

March 10, 2009 by The Editor · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Travel

Some of the most frequently used search terms are things like ‘cheap flights‘ or ‘low cost travel‘. Holidaymakers and business travellers are always on the lookout for low prices and special offers when it comes to air fares, hotel accommodation and car hire.

Skyscanner is a site that can help you in this search. It is one of the most frequently used sites of this type and receives millions of hits each month as European air travellers go online to find the cheapest flight tickets and other savings. The site searches through 600 airlines operating on 6,000 routes (budget, charter, and scheduled). The site’s search boxes are refreshingly clear and simple to use and they respond quickly with up to date information. The site is often recommended by broadcast, print, and online journalists.

The Skyscanner site not only provides flight information though. There is a lot more comment and recommendation from the staff and from other travellers such as ski reports, airline feedback, hotel recommendations, and city break ideas. It’s a feature rich website that helps you to decide where to go, where to stay and how to get their quickly and with the least expense.

Anya Hindmarch Handbags

March 3, 2009 by The Editor · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Handbags

When it comes to considering quality handags the name Anya Hindmarch springs to mind immediately. Her designs are chic and set a standard that others emulate. The styles speak of quality, luxury, and fun, and they are made with the highest quality materials with a fine attention to detail. They are a joy to own and to see on the arms of women who are complimented by this all-important accessory.

Anya Hindmarch bags are works of art. They inspire discussion and provoke reactions and an investment in one of these bags will produce many dividends. They will last for years thanks to the care and quality in the manufacturing process, and the ever changing styles become snapshots of the season in which they were designed to be used. Like Chanel No.5, Anya Hindmarch handbags never go out of fashion, they simply become desirable vintages.
